National Bike Summit Coming to DC
The National Bike Summit lands in Washington, DC this coming March. This year’s premier bike-action meet-and-greet is shaping up as a must-attend event given the ever-shifting situation concerning the federal funding of transportation. Either a bill will have passed Congress and signed into law by then, or else advocates will listen for shifts in the wind. Is the magic 8-ball any way to take our nation into the future?Organized by the League of American Bicyclists, the Bike Summit is your opportunity to take a leadership role in pro-bike advocacy and raise your voice for progressive funding for active transportation. Rub elbows with state and federal policymakers and bike coalition representatives nationwide. Tell them why you like to bike!
Maybe you’ll bump into Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood. Or NYC’s pro-bike official, Janette Sadik-Kahn. What’s important is just to be in the room where the next year of pro-bike activism will take shape. If you’re privileged, you’ll be sitting on one of the many panels. If you’re merely fortunate, you’ll be listening in one of those great panels. And if you play your cards right, you might have your conference fee, travel and room comped by an industry group, advocacy organization, or heck – a bake sale to pay your way!
