Sunday: CicLAVia Transforms Mid-City With ‘Iconic Wilshire’
We joined thousands of riders and walkers for this year’s first CicLAvia held April 6th. The mid-city route from Fairfax to Downtown liberated for a day Wilshire Boulevard, one of the more significant public spaces in the region. This slow-roll through an historic corridor (which we recapped back in 2012) was free of cars and free of charge. That makes for the biggest spectacle since Lindsay Lohan’s repeat engagements at the Beverly Hills courthouse.
Along the way we took a walking tour of Mid-City art galleries; visited with a bike repair tent and other bike-minded folks at the Fairfax hub; had a bite to eat at the food trucks stationed at MacArthur Park, followed by a full-belly stroll around; and of course took in the marvelous variety of custom rides on display.
Check out the event video from reader Maxwell Vann, who nicely captured the spirit and diversity of the event. The scroll down to see a few of our snapshots of CicLAvia 2014 in action!
